Company info:

Devon is a great place to live and work. We are an ambitious Authority and are constantly working to improve our Children’s and Adults' services.

Job/ Person Spec:

We offer newly qualified Social Workers the opportunity to join our outstanding Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme offering dedicated, consistent and effective support in your first year of practice, enabling you to approach your career in social work with confidence. The 12 month programme offers a positive introduction to social work in Devon and the profession in general.

Like us, you’ll be passionate about improving lives. A fully qualified social worker (degree level) with an up-to-the-minute understanding of policies and processes, and some experience of working within a social care environment, you are passionate, person-centred and eager to learn; ready to make that all-important step from education into your chosen profession.

You’ll feel confident managing conflicts, solving problems and dealing with challenging situations. Proactive and assertive in your approach, you’re confident in making best judgements but you won’t be afraid to ask questions, building effective working relationships with your professional network. It almost goes without saying that your communication and organisation skills are second to none – you’ll feel comfortable interacting clearly and effectively with people of all ages and from all backgrounds.

One of the largest counties in the UK, Devon is rich in scenery, food and culture. But like any other part of the country, we have diverse, complicated and challenging social issues. We are forward thinking, and plan for challenges now and ahead. We’ve been working with our staff to reshape social work teams to make sure that they’re supported to deliver the best possible outcomes for vulnerable adults.
